Who?
Posted under Uncategorized by JimSo who is this self-described techno-junkie? I’m Jim Michael, the IT Manager at Windsor Crossing Community Church in Chesterfield, MO. I have attended the Crossing for many years, but I’ve only been the IT Manager there since the summer of 2007. Prior to that I was the IT Manager at the City of Chesterfield municipal government for 13+ years. I love all things related to servers and networking, and coming from a predominantly-Novell environment to an all-Microsoft shop has been an interesting learning curve, but at the same time a refreshing change with new challenges.
I also live comfortably in two different worlds: the world of IT, and the world of Pro Audio. While I get paid to play with computers every day, in my volunteer capacity I get to play with expensive audio gear such as digital consoles, networked audio, Pro Tools and all sorts of other cool toys. I lead the audio team at the Crossing, mix FOH on a regular basis, engineer in our recording studio, and pretty much love anything to do with pro audio. (That said, I am not a “Hi Fi” home audio enthusiast, and find much of that industry to be riddled with snake oil… but I digress…)
This blog is just a place for me to talk about all this stuff and how I use it. I have no special insights other than a love of technology. IT geeks will likely be bored with the audio stuff, and audio guys may find the IT stuff incomprehensible, but such are the two lives I live. If you do happen to get something out of any of this stuff, all the better
